The WIFS is going to play their first show in Texas when they play Fun fun Fun Fest in Austin this year (at least to my knowledge, it’s their first). WIFS is best known as circus punk and best described as 30 people in various suits, Victorian era, or punk clothes playing historical songs where dancing is mandatory (they’ve also had shows were eccentric costumes were mandatory for entry). Their Halloween shows in Brooklyn are legendary. If they don’t add a random Dallas show on their way to Austin, I may make the trip just to see their set and leave immediately afterwards.

Maybe like 3 of my followers will be as excited about this as I am, but Screeching Weasel is stopping in Dallas on their reunion tour in two weeks! This is gigantic news for me and I am more excited for a show than I’ve been in a long, long time. Mostly because Screeching Weasel hasn’t been to Dallas since I was around 15 years old.
And the best part about 80’s punk bands is that the pits are full of disgusting 30-40somethings screaming every lyric to songs like “Like a Parasite” and “Cindy’s on Methadone” and not giving a shit in the entire world. I can’t wait to be there with them. I can smell the Fosters and dirty black leather now.
